An Assumption of Truth is written by award winning playwright Keir McAllister.

Raw! is the new literary sensation from first time author Abigail Rose; an autobiography where she claims to unflinchingly scrutinise a life in search of true meaning. A work, she claims, of absolute and utter honesty.

But at least one person is not buying it.

In the age of “false news” and “alternative facts” McAllister explores the idea of personal identity; how do we come to believe who we are and how far will we go to to preserve it.  An Assumption of Truth is a psychological drama about the complex relationship between our idea of ourselves and our need for narrative.

An Assumption of Truth played at The Scottish Storytelling Centre in 2018

Starring critically acclaimed actresses Shauna Macdonald (Filth, The Descent and Spooks) and Joanna Tope (A Respectable Widow Takes To Vulgarity, The Crucible and Threads) alongside up and coming actress Larah Bross (The Last Laugh).

Directed by Cal MacAninch (The Awakening, Downton Abbey and Judas Kiss)

Praise for McAllister’s previous productions:

★★★★ ‘Stand-up tragedy with deceptive intelligence… McAllister’s script twists elegantly’ The List

★★★★ ‘The script is witty and clever, while still having real ideas. Happiness and humour clash in thought-provoking ways - remarkably well-structured as a piece of theatre.’ BroadwayBaby

★★★★ ‘It was down to the script, direction and actors to hold our attention for the full hour…I for one, could not take my eyes off the stage’ Ed Fest

This play received support from the Tom McGrath Trust for development.
